Not much tax money to be had from a Bergman production. Most of his films lost money and so would have generated nothing for the Swedish state. Quite the contrary.

I love this one. Summer guests are still today called "badjävlar" (literally "bathe devils") on the coasts, though more here on the west coast than on the eastern coast, where this film plays.

It's also one of the last Swedish films where they speak with that "1940's" accent.
