The Black Cat with Lugosi and Karloff

Spectacular sets for the house/mansion

There is some horror movie about to come on. Just caught the tail few moments of the previous one, and it was some grisly, nasty stuff. Some live guy, a russian soldier IIRC and a nazi soldier, having their skulls sliced open with an angle grinder whist conscious, and half of each of their living brains being dissected out, whilst they were alive and screaming in torment, before the halves were swapped over by some psycho surgeon nutcase to create some half-nazi half-communist 'new being'. Which seemed to end with one of being being electrically burned alive via electrodes buried in his brain through the re-bolted on skulll piece, more screaming, the other one, again more screaming and twitching before it/he/they thing got up and started ripping out parts of his own brain and tearing pieces off his face before going on to bite the throat out of some strapped down guy on a gurney. Too little to make head or tail of, not that I am in the least convinced I'd have wanted to. That minute or so was downright unpleasant.

Watched a couple of the old Star Trek movies, inspired by Discovery. Have to say, they are all so much better than this new thing.

A horror movie, not sure of the title, it started a minute or so ago but I happened to be out of the room during the title being shown.

But ugh. Opening scenes had a drycleaner scrubbing fabric with a brush and the noise it made, I had to stick my fingers in my ears, it was just painful to hear, in that sickening sensory gating kind of way. I couldn't help but think 'damn this being the beginning of the movie, this bastard is far less likely to get killed by somebody or something quickly enough to silence the awful sound. I'd quite happily have stepped in there and killed the bugger myself if it made that noise stop :autism:

Being a spazz might not have THAT many cons, and of the ones it does, but that has to be the worst of them or  at least very damn close to it. Noises like that should be outside the scope of human hearing. Usually in horror movies its meant to be sympathy for the victims (in a fair slice of the  horror  movies anyway), that one had me praying for a psycho, zombie, wer-wolf,  anything just so long as the drycleaner shut up making that sound.

I've been watching Enterprise. Not exactly sure why--I never liked it much when it first came out--but it's more entertaining this time around. I guess one reason is that it's nothing like Discovery--that is, it's not a black ops version of Star Trek.

Just finished Island of the Lost Souls with Charles Laughton.  Really enjoyed him.  Poor Lota/Panther Girl - that's the best one in the contest to play the part?

Perrier's Bounty.  Easiest script to write and memorize.  Every word was "fuck" in an Irish accent.  May watch it again.

Saw Murder on the Orient Express.  Meh.  The earlier films were better.
