Hyke - clever cow

Your shoe size increases by one unit per year and you buy socks accordingly to match your shoe size. Your bedroom sock drawer contains 10 red socks, 20 blue socks and 30 green socks, bought randomly over the past 3 years. There is no light and you need to grab a pair in the dark.
How many socks should you pull out of the drawer to guarantee that you have a same-sized pair with matching colors?

You can only guarantee that you pull out a matching pair if you exhaust all the possible combinations which will not give you a pair. What you have are 3 different sizes (bought over the past 3 years) and a combination of 3 colors. The number of socks in the drawer is not significant.

If we denote the different sizes between the years by X, Y and Z, then you can pull out each of these different sizes for the three possible colors – red X, red Y, red Z, blue X, blue Y, blue Z, green X, green Y and green Z. That’s a total of 9 socks which can be pulled out of the drawer which will not give you a matching pair. The next sock that you pull out though, whatever the color and size, will have to be similar to one of these 9 socks and thus guaranteeing that you have a pair – so the answer is that you need to pull out 10 socks to ensure that you have a matching pair in size and color.
blah blah blah

That doesn't mean that you can wear those socks. Most will be too small for you. :P

Here's a riddle I just came up with. There's no trickery involved, and the solution is simple.

100 people are applying for 100 jobs at a company, and the company wants to test their intelligence. If they pass the test, they all get jobs. If they fail, none of them get jobs. The manager brings them into a room for a meeting and explains their task. In the building, there's a closet with nothing in it except for one three-way lamp (a lamp with a bulb that can give three different levels of brightness). They're all allowed to examine it ahead of time. After the meeting, they'll be allowed to confer briefly, then they'll all be isolated and unable to communicate with each other. Each applicant will be given a random number between 1 and 100 (and numbers can repeat themselves). In random order, they'll be led one at a time into the room and allowed to turn the lamp on and off, or change the brightness level, as they wish. There is no other communication possible with the other applicants once the numbers are given out. The last person into the room must tell the manager whether the sum of all of the numbers the applicants were given is divisible by four.

What is their strategy?

...to collectively tell Google to take their trick interview questions and shove them someplace equally creative?

Also has anyone guessed the one that was a keyboard yet?  Forget the clues.  Something about space and enter and keys.

They need the jobs until the economy improves. :P

Then their strategy is probably to panic, choke, cry, go home and take more antidepressants.
