An alpha male is someone who has total self confidence, and thus people, at least NTs, are instinctively looking up to him, both men and women. That way he gets most women he wants. It's primitive and disgusting and always reminds me of lynch mobs and the worst and lowest human instincts.

i would agree with most of this, but with a few additions.

i also think that several men are pseudo alpha males.  an act.  but annoying to the degree that they are great actors, and try too hard to dominate without real leadership abilities.

From my observations, it doesn't seem to be as simple as them wanting to worship such men. They want a trophy, indeed, but on their terms; a big, strong, pretty guard dog that will shield them from hardships and which they can fall back to, which falls for their subtle but rather effective ways of controlling it and provides them with that which they want. (for example, money, status and luxuary living standards that they don't have to work for themselves)
