Camels can be divided into two categories, single and double humped. The single-humped one, aka, the Dromedary, is by far the most common, and can be found in the Middle East and large parts of northern Africa.
It is a very tough and sturdy animal, with almost supernatural survival abilities (it can be dehydrated way beyond any other mammals ability to survive it), and due to their extremely hostile environment, they are accustomed to - and prefer - thorny, hard plants to eat.
The double humped one, often much more recognizeable, is remarkably rare, and almost extinct in the wild. These are found in central Asia, mostly Mongolia.
