What bicycle lanes concerns we actually had one in town here already in 1976. It was actually at the street where I lived, but it was the only bicycle lane in town, and the police inspector didn't want us kids to ride a bike anywhere else. And that was in a small town with 30000 people back then

I hate bike lanes and in general think they make things more dangerous a lot of times and it would be better if bikes should have to obey the same laws as other vehicles.  The big danger is that most of the time they are on the right shoulder which means they can legally overtake you on the right when you are going to make a right turn and bikes in general are not always easy to see, are quiet and can go very fast.
