It's a vow. Should people make vows that they don't sincerely believe? Furthermore, should the United States government be tacitly encouraging people to take vows that affirm the existence of any deity? The oath of office spelled out in the Constitution makes no reference to God.

I have plenty of time to run for office, but I would rather die than be a politician. You don't actually know what sort of activism I might be part of, or writings I might be doing.
