So, Gopher is being a bit more beaten by autism than otherwise, needing either hibernation as Gopher, or getting very detailed endless questions answered in the guise of Piper. And in the guise of Gopher again too, wondering about the IP thing again. Nothing wrong with that. A nuisance for Gary/Gopher maybe, but nothing but überspazz mode. Gary is not the only one suffering from that now and then. It happens. Part of being a spazz.

PPK posted something, that could or could not be seen as posting elder content. PPK keeps strict to the rules, being the man he is, and de-admins and de-elders himself on ASDC. Praise for that. I will miss him in both, I do not think it was needed, but I do respect him for it. Shows him to be as responsible as they can come. It is what PPK does, seeing he may have crossed boundaries he put down himself. And yes, praise to PPK for that, there are a lot of politicians who need to learn from him.

Indeed, and whoever gopher or piper is could learn a lesson in honesty and stop hiding behind the sock.

What would it change?
It would not change the questions asked from the side of Piper, it might change the perception of other members on who Piper is. But, revealing who Piper is would also reveal who Gary/Gopher is on many occasions, but not all. So, Piper telling something about identity on ASDC would have consequences on I2.

It is an unfortunate event Piper chose Piper for a name, it brought lots of things with it that ASDC could have done without. But that cannot be undone. Would not surprise me if Piper one day will be ready to share more, but, I could very well be wrong there.

When it comes to secrecy, some of the members here and on ASDC have no issues telling who they are, others have. It is a right people have and sometimes really need, going under a nickname.

If someone wants to use a sock they do so with the knowledge someone may work out their 'true' identity. There is always the chance you'll be caught out. If you play with fire and all that.

I do not think any of the Admins from ASDC can see any IP addresses in I2 except their own. I do not know what is getting implied here. Prefer less of the implications and more of the concerns. Problem? Then state it in meaningful terms rather than alluding to something that may or may not be problematic but sounds like it may be problematic (if we just knew what the problem was in the first place).

So who can see what IP in what forums? In the event that they can see an IP in one forum, that means what? State the issue clearly.

There are five people on I2 who can see other people's IPs: me, parts, renaeden, Callaway and McJ. Three appear to be somewhat active here.

It wasn't a newsbox slave glitch, Hyke. Anyone using the sockpuppet is making their IP visible to anyone else who logs in as the sock. Maybe that's why other people don't use it much anymore.

It's not a glitch at all since it is by design--the software wasn't designed with sock puppet accounts in mind.
