I live very close to one of the stations on the Cogwheel Railway. It goes way up the steep hills, and the hills are so steep that the railway lines have a cogwheel to stop the trains sliding down. The views are awesome from it, you can see most of the city. Anytime I want to get down into the city, I use it.

I'm not sure if it's really a train, or a tram. It has the status of a tram line, but it feels like a train.

Rain and occasional traffic down our street.

Two houses away, woman talking to her son, in a loud voice. House between us, girl playing techno/house, whatever it is called nowadays, loud, to block out sounds of neighbour. Back-door neighbour will probably soon start playing his sentimental shit. Kid put on music to block sounds too.

It is fun, summer. :P

You can see trains from your house? Awesome.

Yes and no. I like trains but not the noise they create. The railway is quite close to us.

DirtDawg and Butterflies, that is so cool. I had wondered how they got trains up very steep hills. It is pretty flat here.

People working on redoing the pavement outside. They are coming closer and closer to my home. It is amazing how quiet they work. Music turned down at a really low level, and they only use the "trilplaat" at the end of their day, for half an hour or so. (And before easily overstimulated kid comes home)

No idea what the English word for "trilplaat" is. It's a heavy trembling devise to make the underground under pavings and brick streets more dense. Makes quite some noise, and has big vibrations.

The new owners are having work done on a house down the road that they bought last month

Monday morning I was woken up at 7am on the dot by construction workers across the street using a similar device to break apart the concrete sidewalk. It was madness inducing.

In my street they use a lightweight, and they do not use it in abundance. So they are done within half an hour, and I barely feel the tremble in my house.
Usually, when someone is doing his garden pavement, they come with more heavy stuff, and they use it longer for smaller pieces. Then I would feel the tremble and hear the sound also if it was a street away from me.

The pavement is not really flat I noticed.
