Many people get a thrill from lying and cheating
Are you doing something wrong, like cheating or cutting corners dishonestly to get ahead?

There's some interesting new research suggests that we get a thrill from these unethical acts, no matter how small.

It's been called a "cheaters high" with good reason.

New information shows that for a lot of us, we get a little mood boost when we don't play fair.

The new study, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, concludes that at least in the short term, being deceitful brings delight.

The researchers gave participants the opportunity to cheat, on things like word games and puzzles.

Some were offered money in exchange for cheating.

Up to half ended up cheating, and most of the participants said they felt better afterwards than those who were honest.

The new research contradicts other studies which had previously shown that doing something dishonest makes people feel bad about themselves.

The researchers say the difference could be that this study only looked at the immediate effects of cheating.

The believe perhaps then that cheating creates what they dub a "short lived euphoria."

That may over time turn into guilt.

But here's more, this research also shows the high you can get by cheating, could prompt more cheating, what the researchers call a "vicious cycle of increasing dishonesty."

What is the solution?

I will never stop...
always constant, accurate, and intense."

Me too, actually. I've owned the shit out of people in the past online and IRL. I've carried out elaborate ruses, and was once one of the finest trolls you ever saw. Thing is, I had something called "trolls remorse". Which means I actually had a conscience and felt bad when I fucked with people that didn't deserve it.

Does this study include more detailed analysis like perhaps a situation where the duped victim deserved it, and the perp may have gotten a feel good because they felt like justice had been carried out? I know revenge is a pretty addictive thing.

Link is broken.  Please fix the link, and perhaps I shall comment.  :P
