Seaside
« on: August 15, 2013, 02:49:36 PM »
I took the urchin to the seaside yesterday.  We went to Rhyl.  We went on the train.  The weather was a bit shitty but we had one hour on the beach of brilliant sunshine.  The urchin loved it.  He went in the sea (maybe I should get him a tetanus)  :o   Made sandcastles and went round the coin dozer arcades.

On the way home the first train was fine,  it was quite busy.  Had to change at Crewe to get the train to Birmingham New Street.  It was empty.  We had our own carriage...until Mr Wierdo boarded and wouldn't leave me alone.  Luckily the guard came round to check tickets.  I think he knew the man was bothering me.  The urchin said  "My Mommy won't let me go through there" and pointed to the 'first class' bit with glass doors.  The guard said "oh I don't mind, you can sit in first class as no one is in there"

So,  we had a cool journey in first class on our own and the guard was really sweet and even took the urchin to see the driver before we arrived back in Birmingham.  Oh and we had some free drinks.   :orly:

Sounds nice, apart from the creepy old man.

I loved the beach when I was a kid. I loved building sand castles. I always preferred that to swimming, which Im hopeless at.

Funny thing is, nowadays I dont really enjoy going to the beach with my friends. Its only fun if we have kids there for me to play with. I still enjoy building really cool castles with them.

I looked up photos of the beaches near Rhyl and they are beautiful   I can spend hours just watching the waves at the beach.  :plus: for being a great mom

Yeah Rhyl is North Wales. The station before is Prestatyn and the train goes onto Holyhead - where the ferry goes to Ireland.

I went there loads as a kid.

I was feeling guilty about him not seeing the sea yet and got fed up waiting for his Dad to take us. I knew he would love it.  He does this thing when he gets really excited, his arms go really straight and he opens and closes his hands,  and he did it when he saw the sea.  It was really cute.

He is a lovely kid when he is like that.  All confident.  He talks to anyone.  He went upto a group of teenagers and he said  "See that sea there,  well an hour ago I was in it. It was blue then.  I know it looks grey now,  but it was blue and I was in it"  and the girls in the group were saying to me  "aww isn't he lovely, I want to take him home"  :orly:

He got all excited in the arcades too.  He loves those 2penny games, like these

I had about a fiver's worth and said "here, fill your boots son" and he was in heaven for half hour.

I love the Atlantic.  I live in the mountains now, but it's a really nice ocean.

My lil bro would love to drive a train, but I think he would also be content for the ride lol.

Sound like fun. Did you take any pictures of the sea?

Cute :) You'll have to take him back now.

I still remember going to the sea when I was four, and have always loved it even though I didn't see a beach again until I was 20. You guys ought to camp out there for a few days.
