http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/07/30/govt-knows-best-white-house-creates-nudge-squad-to-shape-behavior/

Go ahead and call me names for mentioning this.

Doesn't seem like anything that new, social engineering projects (aka propaganda) have been ongoing for a long time via media. Guess they just want to centralize it now.

Indeed. What worries me is the fact that it can now be made public, and instead of marching on the white house by the millions and demanding change, people say "oh that's lovely, what a wonderful idea".

Fucking stupid.

No. They've been around for a long time, its just been decided that it will be public since people now worship their federal government as if it were their god.

It's hard to discuss without reading the article. Sounds interesting though.

The idea to me makes me completely uncomfortable. but I gather, the government has "nudged" us for a long time, in more ways than one. Take the tax code for instance, they give people tax breaks for charity.

Charity should be from the heart, I think. and as common as grass

Its almost as common today for someone to expect a nudge in order to get something. Which is completely disturbing

YES. You got it, man. They're just coming foreward with it now, and everyone is all like, "Oh that's a great idea! Now they can know what mcdonald's sandwich i'll me likely to buy, and what I like most about dancing with the stars! Now I can have all my tranquilizing bullshit spoonfed to me more efficiently! YAAAAY"

This is what I think is going on. People who are in power, Either become so Rich they forget what its like to be average joe or jane and lose touch with reality, and have nothing better to do than sit around all day to come up with these rediculose laws, to make people behave a certain way. Its almost as if you have to become delusional to govern, and if you are modest you get abuse from the ruling class. for example ron paul

I don't know what you can do to change the landscape though. people in power are hellbent on staying there, and what puts them there? Money. you would have to completely get rid of economics to change the political scene
