Getting colder. Had just a few degrees above freezing this morning.
It was 19 centigrade here today (that's the warm 19 degs, not your freezing cold "foreign" measurement). The middle of October and I had to open the back door while cooking because I was sweating.
So far since last winter I have had the gas heating on for a total of two hours and that was just to make sure it still worked before winter. In summer we had a new log burner installed in the back room and (against advice) we ogt a high output model. When we light it the room so far gets too hot to comfortably sit anywhere near it but it does spread heat throughout the house. With gas prices so high it may turn out to have been a good move.
I have two metric tons of wood chopped and another ton of large logs to split. That should see us through until March.
