Storm and high water make it necessary to break through some dikes, to create a kind of safety valves for too high pressure on more important dikes.

Not where I live though. I live too much below sea level to have that happening here.

But, not far from my family certain areas are being flooded on purpose now.

Bit over 7 C here, very stormy.

oh, and as for rmy weather, it is fucking freezing, that's what it is

22°F or about -5° C

and it's not snowing currently but there are a few inches on the ground

There was a storm here yesterday morning but nothing like that Scotland storm.

Right now it is 22.5°C at 11pm. No rain but apparently there will be tomorrow.

I love a strong wind, but have respect for gale+ speeds.  It's 62 and slightly cloudy here.  Pretty good weather.

Slums?  In Glasgow?  No, it's all beautiful and sparkling clean here.  Actually, it looks like the slums got off lightly; the damage seems to be more to the non-slum areas.  There's not that much that strong winds can do to massive concrete blocks of flats that look like aliens lifted them straight from Eastern Europe and plonked them on barren industrial estates.  Also, one of the houses that got it's roof ripped off was featured on Grand Designs, though that house isn't in Glasgow.  I guess the design wasn't so grand after all.

We had no rain and there was a bit of room for the sun today also. I'm just really glad that the wind gradually went 'chill' too. T, at half past 5, is about 6C at my whereabouts.
