Lived in Amersfoort (and Hoevelaken) and there's for sure a difference in the weather comparing those places with BoZ. Okay, all is relative but here's quite a bit more sun per year, periods of greyness (clouded for days on end) are remarkable shorter and yeah, there's less rain in mms p/y too. Living more southwards and closer to quite a bit of water does take the rougher edges off the more negative weather here. Can get, to my disliking, a bit hot here some days in Summer though.

Is it because you're closer to the Gulf Stream?

happily, it was 9C when we woke up this morning. not supposed to get much higher than 20 today, but sadly the temp will go up as the weekend progresses.

I hate this really heavy overcast; it's bright enough, particularly towards the blue end of the spectrum, that my vision doesn't become dark-adapted, and dark enough that I can't see shit when I go indoors without turning lights on, wearing a head torch and/or waiting for my vision to adjust to the even weaker indoor illumination.

You've asked me the same question before QV but think the gulf stream only indirectly has influence here. Way less than let's say Western Ireland or the N.W. part of Scotland. Um, illustration?


Don't think the difference between the weather here in the south west corner of the Netherlands and more up-north where Hyke lives can be explained by the gulf stream. I just live closer to the place (in Zeeland/the most westwards and southern province of this small country) that has the rel. littlest of rainfall and most sun hours per year here.

Well, today it was dry and sunny again. A tadski colder though. Max T p/m 10*C. I should've trimmed the laurel hedge again but.. didn't.  ::)

Anyway, today was a bit cold and foggy and the max T only hit 6*C. Think there's frost on his way tonight/early morning and I'm going to take two potted plants inside the house in a little while.

We had a glorious sunny day. Cool, but, my youngest had her summer jacket on, and a friend of hers even had bare legs.

Now it is getting foggy, and, a lot colder. 1.5oC

And, checking the online weather, it's sub zero where my parents live right now.
