been warmish, forties, F.
Major flooding south of town. Lots of ice melt and now rain. Many creeks are expanding outside their boundaries. The White River was eighteen feet above normal this week end. Twelve feet is flood stage. Six feet of terror for those living near the banks of the river.
I am on high ground. Nothing to worry about for me, but seeing all those cars floating downstream, because a driver was too stupid to stop for rushing water is a little disturbing. MOstly, the byways are free and clear, but watch for roads with water flowing over them. Many roads have washed out completely. you look and think that a road has an inch of water flowing over it and you can make it, but then you get out about a hundred feet or so into the wash and the road drops off by six or eight feet, because it is all washed away from the flood.
People have been warned to not trust a road with water flowing over it. What is it that makes them so fucking stupid to go over a road with NO visibility, FFS!!
