A little ice to scrape before the morning drive time. Not too bad now and it should only get better as the afternoon arrives.
Cloudy skies, still with just a peak from the sun every so often.
Sucks to have missed the coronal mass ejection event.
People have reported seeing northern lights as far south as Mississippi and Louisiana. Awesome!
One of the things I'd like to do is see the Northern Lights. I'd want to see them at full throttle.
We see Northern Lights here in Indiana fairly often in the winter. Often it is very clear and very cold on winter nights.
The full range of colors can be spectacular!
It never happens in spring, mostly due to consistent or continual cloud cover roaming through our upper atmosphere during these dramatically changing weather patterns this time of year.
One thing I have experienced that I would love to see again is a solar eclipse. I did not live here at the time I experienced a totality.
I worry about our weather for the upcoming event.
Next year, on April 8, central Indiana is in the path of totality for a solar eclipse for the first time in 812 years astronomers have reported.
Check out this map republished by Butler University, which is down in Indianapolis. They are expecting 50% to 60% cloud cover for this "Once In A Millennium" event. Historically, there no reason to expect any change, just because we are going to have a chance to view a total solar eclipse that day.
I live north of Indy, more in the darker green, 60% to 70% range.
... just one more reason to move back to Texas!
