Well below freezing last night and the previous two. Now, already iced over, everywhere.

I think we can safely go outside with no fear of those dreaded "triple E" (Eastern Equine Encephalitis, EEE) carrying mosquitoes. Several cases confirmed right here in central Indiana. No more fleas, no ticks in the woods.

BUT, bird food is also drying up this week.
I need to get out and replace all my suet bricks and make sure to keep my seed feeders full over the winter for those feathered friends who tough out the Indiana winter. The hard part is actually keeping liquid water available for them. Not so much of a problem right now, but "Winter Is Coming."

Just two weeks ago I pulled two ticks off one of my dogs!! The poor girl, bugs love her. She's always the one who gets the tick bites. Mosquitoes love her as do bees etc. But my other dog? Never had a tick or a mosquito bite. So glad it's now officially too cold for the damn things.
