Its feeling that way too, but thankfully at least the humidity isn't too high. Weather has been baking the ground dry for quite some time. Sun like a blowlamp in the midday heat. I absolutely hate it.
And I bet you can imagine, with your line of work, Parts, what its like to have to wear personal protective gear, gas mask, double-layered gloves, elbow length butyl rubber ones with surgical nitrile gloves over the top, and then a big pair of mittens over that sometimes, along with a safety visor with no ventilation in its seal over the face, and over that, a blast-shield. Whilst wearing a full length heavy leather trenchcoat for a labcoat, for about 24-48 hours.
NOT much fun. Especially if your nose starts running. That is nasty when wearing a gas mask.
And all together in the searing heat for so long, it makes me think of those ironman triathlon events. Only you don't feel elated when you get to the finish line, just shattered and as if your soul has been dumped in a bathtub filled with hot caustic lye and left to marinate in hell.
Its weather like this, that sometimes almost manages to make me hate my job. I love it too much to begin with for that, but there are days when one thinks 'bugger me diagonally, is a clandestine chemist's work EVER done???'
What I want, is an NBC suit, with an additional powerpack and built-in peltier cooling stacks. All electrical, via heatpumps, using the temperature differential between outside and inside to circulate a coolant through lines incorporating heatsinks and external fans. That'd be lovely, compared to being stuck in a personal mobile coffin with a viewscreen, which although one isn't dead, soon begins to smell like something crawled inside the air line and died in a pool of warm liquid, turning it into a larger, warmer pool of stagnating liquefied small rodent or the like
