I didn't really notice the troll, ladikapitan struck me as a bit snooty, didn't strike me as a fuckup or a bad person, just a bit..attitudey. That said, I've been known to give people a bit of an earful myself if they act like dicks.
Currently temp-banned on another forum for it. Real wanker though, he had it coming. Asked on a harm reduction/drug forum about an old ass, antique sedative he'd been put on, chloral hydrate, and I took the time to share what I knew about it, and all it took was for me to say that if he drinks any alcohol at all, to make sure to limit intake very carefully, and slowly discover exactly how it interacts and at what degrees and at what amounts, SLOWLY, since mixing GABAergic depressants halfarsedly can be a quick way to the grave, and the fucker went off on one, ended up getting an unofficial warning the first time, but then he did much the same thing, saying some pretty damn obnoxious things, got banned for a week after saying to him, more or less 'oh, right, so given you are behaving that way yourself, it's acceptable to you, fine then...' and giving him a whole lot worse. I forget exactly what I said but soon as one of the mods clocked it I got banned for a week.
Worth it in that case, guy was being a real fucking dick to those trying to help him, who have bugger all obligation to, and take their own time to try and assist him. Although still, if someone wants to be an asshole, it should be fair enough to treat them as one. No?
