Corruption is not an absolute but it is built-in. Not everyone will be corrupted--some politicians try their damnest to do a good job and I've actually met a few like that--but the system invites this kind of thing. Personal freedoms are easily overlooked when someone naïvely sees a way to fight crime for the good of the society. I think most such efforts start with good intentions.
