I heard that "save one life" on a Swedish board. What really pissed me off was that the person saying it is a judge IRL.

I: "Don't you think that there are too many freedom-infringing laws about most things in this country?"

He: "If we can save one life in a million it's worth a ban or restriction"

I don't equate doing "right" with success. this is a concept, tought by the morality police.
In nature, animals are brutal. and our closest relatives are some of the most brutal
we are all animals after all. not gods special creation
I'm living my life. there is no right or wrong for me

But this is just my opinion. everyone should do what works for them

That's only true if you live among decent people.

You'll be more likely to live among decent people if you are one, yourself.  Like attracts like.  Though, like also *generates* like, so, in some cses, you'd have to fight the tide, or find ways of branching out and starting over.  Which is admittedly a pain in the balls.

Corruption is not an absolute but it is built-in. Not everyone will be corrupted--some politicians try their damnest to do a good job and I've actually met a few like that--but the system invites this kind of thing. Personal freedoms are easily overlooked when someone naïvely sees a way to fight crime for the good of the society. I think most such efforts start with good intentions.

I don't know but many more than one in a million. More like one of thousand.
