It's like the Russian mafia, in a way.
Most people are unaware, but since the early 2000s, Russian murder rate has halved - and halved from what was a rampant state of perpetual mass murder.
This has to do with Russian organized crime "going legit", that is, they are still shooting people in the head, but they have learned to go to the top of each pyramid, and popped their way into construction, infrastructure, and other investment ventures.

Ever since the dawn of humanity, there have been people who contradict religion (I've seen statements supposedly going into ancient Egypt, I see no reason why sceptical individuals have not always existed. There is always someone who decides to believe what he sees - not what he can't see)
Same as the futility of war, the deception of politics, etc etc.

We never learn.
It is clearly not in our nature to ever learn.

the beings exsisted, they werent gods

they plundered and stole what they needed

they fucked with the natural evolution of man, for their own purposes

men were their miners and farmers

when they were done they left, but will probably return for more

isnt it convenient how we have gathered all the known and recovered gold

and stored it in central locations, for them

it is bred into us.

A Jehova's Witness stopped me and a friend last week. It was kinda fun, cus we thought they were all gone, or something, haven't seen them in ages.
We also wanted to cut him off quickly, save his time :D
So, we did, we quickly informed him he was talking to hardliner atheists, with no hope for any redemption whatsoever. I told him we are good people "deep down". This totally guilttripped him, and he begun assuring us that there was room for us in heaven, despite our atheism :]
We told him to throw God a good word for us.
