Jealousy and envy are not to be confused.
Jealousy comes from fear of losing something you already have. Envy comes from not having something you want.
That's an excellent distinction! For some reason I thought "jealousy" always meant sexual
or romantic competitiveness. I didn't know one could be "jealous" with regard to things
as well as people. I need to read the dictionary more. I envy you your knowledge.
