Post an ironic fact

Swedish vindöga meant window. Now it's a dead word in Swedish, and instead we use the word fönster, that comes from German Fenster, that in turn comes from Latin fenestra, which is ultimately an Etruscan word  :dunno:

It's easy to understand. Lit talked about language development through time.

I just didn't get why it's particularly ironic that the original word was Etruscan.  ???

So, ironically, there was no particular irony in this post at all?  ???

The living Swedish language had a word that died. A new word was used, in this living language, to replace the dead word. The new word stems from two dead languages.

OK, now I get it.  So Swedish ought to have kept the original word.  :apondering:

That would have been :arrr: or they could have replaced their whole language with Latin.

Or, they could have just gotten rid of windows.
