Yes. I stopped fighting when I was 35 because I got my arse handed to me by a younger, fitter and quicker bloke. Prior to then, at the drop of a hat I would go. (Yes definitely self-esteem issues there and a want to prove myself, no I did not always win, no I am not a bigger man for doing it and yes I am embarrassed it took to 35 to work it out)  :-[

Yep, I've been in a couple of fights too. All more than 20 years ago though. Lost a few, won some.. but even then it always left some marks on me (one way or the other).

I will not initiate a (physical) fight nowadays, I think.. but would protect myself and those I care about if it need be.

Real physical fights? With my brother when I was a teen. We were a handful for our parents.  :GA: :GA: Now we are very close.

And, with a guy who was playing me. Almost 30 years ago. Could not express my anger in words, so, went to visit him and told him I had come to fight, because I was so angry with him. Did not break his precious nose, alas. Think his GF would have loved it, had I done that. In retrospect, I think he found it funny.

I only ever had one girly fight and that was because someone was about to push a glass in my nieces face!   Had several altercations with men, one was when i was trying to protect my friend from her husband and he bost my nose  (bad enuf having a big hooter but a crooked one now)

Worked in a bar and eventually learned to spot trouble brewing and gtf outta dodge!

Yes. Never initiated one though.

I was what the ex calls a "dirty fighter" and would use anything within my reach if need be.

That was when I was younger, now it's just normally along the lines of "get the fuck off my lawn." or "get the fuck out of my face."

Fighting about shit just seems to be a waste of time, I would only do so in self defense.

Oh shit. A lot of them were after drinking a lot of grog but I think that did not really matter in sense of it was not the cause. We were young and defending some stupid juvenile sense of honour. You know the type of shit nowdays I would shake my head and smirk at and call the other bloke a bit of a dickhead, back then it was on.

Girls?? Yeah a few times. Stupid honour bullshit. Never actually impressed the girls though.

I'm guessing that younger men fight due to testosterone surges.


I remember when the bars would close, guys would fight in the parking lot.  But never a guy who picked up a girl.
