"I am a socialist not through reading a textbook that has caught my intellectual fancy, nor through unthinking tradition, but because I believe that, at its best, socialism corresponds most closely to an existence that is both rational and moral. It stands for cooperation, not confrontation; for fellowship, not fear. It stands for equality."
Tony Blair"We are a left of centre party, pursuing economic prosperity and social justice as partners and not as opposites".
Tony BlairHe was very weasel like in appearance. Yeah i think in his actions, too.
Used to be in a rock band called Ugly Rumours
Yes i agree with Odeon that he was a very skilled politician and his relationship with former U.S President Bush was damaging.
He did win three consecutive general elections.
He introduced several policies which i supported :
Minimum wage, Freedom of Information Act, and The Human Rights Act
On his first election victory he stated he had three priorities : EDUCATION EDUCATION EDUCATION! and he did increase the Education budget, also the national health service where he introduced a time scale to waiting lists.
He played an important role in 'the good friday' agreement which led to relative peace in Northern Ireland for the first time in thirty years.
In general, i quite liked him. He was slightly to the right, a bit too much for my own preference but i think he knew that had to be to get Labour in government.
