I didn't look at all those stats, I have a life.

When it says 30% of Americans were not working in 2007 does this include people on social security?  Most of them are retired people who payed into it there entire life.
On your check it says you pay a tax called SSDI.  I believe it is taxed at 6.2% (and matched by your employer) up to the first $110,000 you make.

I wonder, if someone lays into it, and only receives a portion of it when they retire, is it an entitlement?

40% or so of the Swedes don't work, but most of them are people over 65, who are retired.
