My Conjunctivitis Thread
« on: April 10, 2013, 11:13:43 PM »
This thread is for me informing you lot that I have yet another flare-up of conjunctivitis in my left eye, resulting from the swelling I still have after the operation in November.

Consider yourself informed. :P

My sympathies.

I'm crossing my fingers. So far my eyes think blepharitis is enough. I keep keeping an eye on it though.  :P

Americans refer to conjunctivitis as pink eye. To me the term sounds rather vulgar or perhaps the name of a cheap alcopop.

Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis is swelling (inflammation) or infection of the membrane lining the eyelids (conjunctiva).

Or the outermost layer of the eye itself.

I'm pretty sure. I've had about half a dozen rounds with antibiotics and another one with cortisone. Plus, I've had various lubricating drops, an antihistamine, and some other meds. The problem keeps coming back. It's a known but relatively rare problem with the kind of surgery I went through, especially in cases when the patient has had multiple surgery.

I remember having conjunctivitis a few times as a child, hated it.

It's a pain. It stings like hell at times.

This is different. It feels more like acid in your eye.

It felt like that after my laser surgery in 1991. I know how that feels too.

In cases of the ordinary conjunctivitis drops of fresh breast milk can be very healing.  :orly: (Really is, used it on my kids, kids of a friend, myself, it works as a natural antibiotic, without the resistancy side-effects and such.

Chronic conjunctivitis is one of the things I am dreading. I'm now in an on and off blepharitis stage of my rosacea. Conjunctivitis is probably next in line. Not looking forward to long term use of oral antibiotics. But, I am still in the clear. Just living with a chronic sand in my eyes sensation.
