Perhaps I should rename it. Religion is a bit overused.... how about "Order of [something knight-ish]". A pledge that when undertaken qualifies one for some kind of knighthood/warrior status....like the Protectors of the World... or something.

It would be kind of like religion, but not, because there is membership, and loyalty. Like a secret society, except not secret and not with crazy hazing and such. Not like a fraternity either, because identification is not exclusive. It's like...boy scouts or something. You get badges.

Eh?

Again, this won't work. You need all the brainwashing techniques of religion to really keep people motivated in groups.

Religion is nothing more than nonsense which is not needed in modern society. Of course, people have the right to believe in whatever unsubstantiated bull shit they like, but it is too often the case that the rights of a perfectly harmless group are infringed upon by this.

Up-to-date cientific theories have more credibility than religious theories ever have. In my humble opinion, it's time to bury the bull shit and move on.

You know, one of my best friends is a 50+ year old grandmother who was bought up a Catholic. It took her 50 years to ditch Christianity and only looking at the arguments for and against did it for her in the end. She could not pretend anymore. What you wrote reminded me very much of what she said to me on this very recently.
Me? I think because I have no been initially indoctrinated into religion I do not have any real misgivings on a personal level. also in Australia, religion is a bit of a non-issue
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

add a self-destruct clause in the scripture

Its a lovely sentiment. Really. But all cults and wars and etc start this way, with good intentions. The constitution of the united states has a lot of "unchangable" clauses in it. It was written with nothing but the best intentions.

Look how thats turning out.

Not insulting you or anything man. Just saying, nothing like this will ever work. If you can start one that does, i'll gladly follow you as loyally as any soldier, and even eat my boots to show how humbled and wrong I was.

True story. And not that I have a problem with the constitution or anything. It'd be fine if it was left alone. Left. Alone.

 :chores: *hums*

Oh, hey, didn't see you there, just finishing up the final touches on this new pledge which will transform the world. Whats that you say? Nazis, what? Holy crap.

This already taking a wrong turn...I better burn the implementation plans.

:voodoo: *sticks ideas in the furnace*

Too dangerous for public consumption. The secret to everything will have to remain just that: A secret.

Secrets are the most dangerous of religious preoccupations. Think of certain secrets with certain priests with children of their congregation
