I'm reading a statistics book.

There is tons of useful shit in this book, but jesus-fuck-christ it is boring as hell.  Why the fuck is statistics a dedicated class?  I always assumed that each class that uses a fragment of statistics would explain it in the class as needed.  And due to the lack of variety in the terms it is kind of confusing.  Sometimes it talks about the mean of the average of the probability distrobutions of average mean samples in a normal distrobution. - What the flying fuck?

And I am getting bored of reading it.  I wanna read my electronics books but i also wanna use all my spare time to read my textbooks for class.  And I am having a stagnant battle over which to do.  It is getting to the point where I am thinking of taking tylenol pm and starting again tomorrow.  What I would give for reading to be easy...

no i love statistics a ton.  i mean a whole helluva lot.

My mind did wander, about 35 thousand times.  But I am training myself to disregard the dreams and curiosities that come about as a consequence of me reading something.  I've got a lot of things to do in this life, and in order to do them I must read a lot of things I don't want to, and also read a whole lot of things I want to in a lot more depth and intensity than I would prefer.  I have great difficulty reading even things I want to read.  Everything I read spurs my creativity(I start getting curious ideas that are infinitely more interesting than what I am reading), i cannot read passively like you watch TV passively.  I have to constantly refocus.

Statistics are essential to understanding basic scientific processes.  take heart, Nomaken- even when the terminology means jack shit to you, you'll still be smarter for having learned stats.

I am fine with statistics in relation to a subject.  But I dislike that I am learning it out of context.  It seems like you would be expected to learn bits and pieces of statistics as needed when learning some other subject.

Well, as far as understanding things like new studies with "breakthroughs" you see on the news, if you understand stats and research, you'll have a better idea of how shite the studies are.
