You are a much braver person than I.  When I cannot put my feet down on the bottom surface (pool or sand) I feel almost panicky. 

The funny thing is that I am so fat that I cannot sink.  Literally.  I've tried blowing all the air out my lungs to sit at the bottom of the pool and I can't get down.  I've had people drag me down to the bottom of the pool (with my permission), let me go and I'm a rocket straight to the surface without moving a muscle.  I can float "standing up", in  a sitting position knees straight or bent.  I've said that if I'm ever found drowned then it has to be murder because of my bouyancy.
