Kill Bill is a very good film to watch when you feel homicidal.

If I didn't I would dive myself nuts. Knowing that odeon, Parts and the rest of you, or most of you, on here have spazz episodes definitely makes it easier.

I think everybody has days like that.

I have been having lots of those days lately :hahaha:

Technically this was yesterday, but I met with my doc. He didn't want to prescribe new meds to me. :(

Why not?  :-\

He didn't think they'd help, I suppose. He urged me to contact a CBT therapist instead.

Here's a book that helped me a lot:

http://www.amazon.com/Stop-Obsessing-OvercomeObsessions-Compulsions/dp/0553353500

One of my current OCD problems is that I get stuck on reading, thinking I can't understand the words, so this is going to be tough. Think ADD meets OCD and you have some idea of what it's like.

Does it help to have a dictionary nearby when you read?

No, I'd have that same problem with the dictionary because it happens once I think about it. Funny thing is that I have no problems reading here, right now. My doc says it's my OCD acting up but when it started happening last year I thought I had Alzheimers or something.

Every time I forget something that I've known for years, however trivial it is, I wonder if I am getting Alzheimer's too.  :thumbdn:

I don't think Alzheimer's would present like this, though, and neither did my doc.

That's good to hear. My psychiatrist didn't think I needed to worry either. Still, I don't like this forgetting business.  :(

No, it's pretty awful.

This is more about me thinking that I don't know what the words mean, though. Well, I think so. :-\

For a brief period at about age 13, I was very compulsive about reading all my notes, from all my classes, every night, from the beginning. As the term went on, that got to be a LOT of notes. And if I lost my concentration while reading, I would go all the way back and start over. I wasn't really studying in an effective way, just going through a pointless and rather punishing OCD exercise. Reading in that very self-conscious way can definitely begin to make things NOT make sense, it all begins to look like  :blah: :blah: :blah:  ...which could probably make you question your comprehension skills.

I've started translating stuff to Swedish while I read but that ruins the flow, obviously, and I start doubting myself for every word I don't translate, if that makes sense.

(I know, this whole thing doesn't make sense.)

My OCD doesn't relly affect my reading so I dunno what that;s like. I'm guessing it is pretty shitty for someone like you tho as you seem to be a big reader. I hve little obsessive compulsive things I get sometimes like having to re-read things, but not bad enough to be my OCD
