I went to the M.I.N.D. Institute monthly spazz meeting. :autism: :autism: :autism:
How was it? What was it about?
Trying to train aspies how to do better with small talk and other social skills to keep them from being held back. One of the men there, who is about my age, is smart as a whip but can't do fuck all as far as succeeding with it. We broke off in pairs for a quick 10 minute discussion, I was talking with a 20 year old black kid who's nervousness and shy demeanor reminded me of myself my first year in the USN @ 18 years old. That is the first time I have talked to someone who appeared to be at a similar age/function level to me at a similar age, if that makes sense. I told him about similarities I perceived and mentioned that he would probably get better with practice. I mentioned the tandem jump and upcoming Paris trip, hopefully he will do okay. He seems like a nice young man.

Hmm, maybe breaking off into pairs would be a good thing for me to start socialising at the group I go to. I haven't been able to talk with anyone there properly yet.
:plus: for describing your meeting.

The meetings are run by two people who aren't autistic and there is usually a specific topic for each meeting. Last one was about choosing a job that best fits with what we like and what we are good at. As I am going to uni, it was kind of irrelevant but I didn't mind it all the same.

Other meetings have been about turn-taking in conversations, reading facial expressions and discussions about what we want non-autistics/support people to know about how it is to be autistic.

At the next meeting there will be Disability Services Commission people there to ask us questions about how the meetings have or have not helped us. Sort of like an audit of some kind. I won't have much to say as I haven't been to the meetings in ages because of uni. This semester I can go to the meetings because I don't have uni on Fridays when the meetings are held.

Some computer maintenance, but apart from that, not a lot.

Fell asleep on the couch after I had a shower and had cuddled, fed, watered and medicated my sick girl.
Woke, had a short chat, did my rounds. Ran some errands, got some meds. In the mean time made some phonecalls. Now I am here again, wondering what to make for dinner.

Read through unit 1 of my 'Object-oriented programming with Java' course and completed the first tutor-marked assessment.  Now I'm going to do the same with unit 1 of my other Java course, 'Putting Java to work'.  I'm going into hospital for 2-3 days for a sleep study on the 23rd of February and I'll be off my meds for a week beforehand, so I'm trying to get ahead with my coursework to compensate for the coming 10 days of being  (or at least, more  than usual).

^I hope the sleep study in hospital is not stressful for you. And I hope the results lead to something that helps you.

I haven't done much today.

Went to uni today with GA so we could find out where all our classes will be. I also printed out my timetable and found a glitch on the page that shows my units. I emailed the unit co-ordinator who emailed back that it didn't matter as long as I have my timetable.

Came home and had fish and chips for tea.

What was it this time, paternity test results? He does a lot of shows about that.   :orly:

Some typical WHO DA DADDY? special. Some girl was really getting into it, repeating everything about 10 times and almost smashing the TV screen. She was certain this poor fellow was the father but he wasn't, lucky guy. ;D
