I thought there would be too few fleshy parts. I may have to reconsider.

The grey one has much more flesh than the European brown one. Couple of years ago, in England, there were recipes for squirrel dishes, with the goal to bring the population of the American squirrel down. There also were feeding devices that only could be used by squirrels light enough not to fall through, to give the European squirrel a head start.

Where I grew up, there were quite a few. Loved seeing them race through the trees. Still look for them, when visiting my mother.

I had a pet squirrel for a time when I was in college.  I found him in the back yard trying to eat a dog bone.  I managed to catch him with my bare hands, so he might have been someone's pet that escaped.  I named him Mr. Kaufmann and we kept him in a very large cage in the house.  One day my sister took him for a walk and he managed to escape the leash she had made.  Sometimes I miss Mr. Kaufmann.

I'm sure the 18th century landowners frequently called their slaves "pets". :zoinks:

Good grief.  This post reads like a 3rd grader wrote it.

I spent $1500 to build a rifle just to blow away squirrels.

Best money I ever spent.  8)
