Black Friday
« on: November 24, 2012, 12:39:20 AM »
I know this is late but I didn't get around to posting it.

Has anyone here ever done it or did it this year? I did it for the very first time on Thursday night. My brothers love doing it and I decided to try it just for the experience. I didn't find it bad at all and I decided I could do this every year. I ended up buying a few things for my son for his Christmas or birthday because the prices were good. But I had to stand in check out line for an hour and I didn't want to go back for more stuff. It wasn't that long when I waited outside to go in because it went pretty fast. Then I decided to hit Best buy and saw another long line and thought "forget it" and went home. I didn't want to be gone all night. Plus I don't need any new video games because I have enough already, same with movies and CDs.

I don't bother because if $X savings = X hours in line than I calculate how much my time and lack of aggravation is worth. I understand some people get in line the night before.  :thumbdn: Not worth it to me.

There's no way I'd spend hours in line waiting to buy something cheaper.

No idea what black Friday is. I know it is Friday the 13th. What this has to do with shopping I dunno
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

Is it just another excuse each year to have sales and rake in cash? :dunno:

I don't see why they have it on Thanksgiving. The shops are probably already busy.

The secret to avoiding the hassle is shopping online, I am surprised everybody does not realize that. People tend to get stupid on this day, maybe the food went to their head. For that reason, I avoid it at all costs.

I stay home that day.  I don't want to be in the midst of otherwise-rational adults fighting
to the death over the last Furby on the shelf.  I bought my new phone the Wednesday
before.   I spent this year's Black Friday cleaning house and doing laundry.  8)

I didn't have a clue what black friday was either?

I know now but it don't happen here.

Where i live,  if you want to get something cheap you order it from the
shoplifters.  Cost is usually a third of RRP.

No que's.  We give up on government to keep the cost of living down here

This was my first Black Friday in about 20 years.  Usually I'll go late in the afternoon.  But they did have a good sale on this TV, so I figured I was "paid" $25 an hour($100/4 hours total time) to buy it.  I also went to the store late Friday afternoon for groceries, but missed the chaos.  I'm not sure if I would do it again.

Spent an hour clicking on Amazon last night trying to get a 32" LCD for $97.00 on a lightening deal.

No cheap tv for me and my shitty slow internet connection.

I still say it was rigged. They probably had 3 of them in stock and were fucking with everybody.  :voodoo:

I'll shop online, but I won't go near a store until after New Years. Can't deal with the crowds. :zombiefuck:

I have never gone to any black Friday thing or ever will, the deals are just not worth the crowds and aggravation

Don't blame the internet, you *know* you want to be like America in every way!   :oranna:
