What's Your Earliest Memory?
« on: November 11, 2012, 11:40:54 AM »
I remember my first birthday.  It was given my my cousin and his group of 9 ish y/o gang.  I can remember a lot of dark outlined heads and looking past them to the brightness of the open garage door.

I was three or four and getting badly swooped by a magpie. Hand covered in blood and me screaming in fright and pain.
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

The first one I can trace back to a time: Buying a transistor radio with my dad. I think my parents told me that they bought that the year my brother was born. I was a year old then.

The images are mine, and, I always did something to the radio that no one else at home did. A trick I had seen from the lady who sold it, to make it look brand new and unused, aligning all the buttons.

I have images from a similar height too, like the way the keyhole of the back door looked. But, I can not tie those memories to a singular event that can be traced to a certain time.

I'm impressed that anyone remembers things from age one!  My earliest memory is from
about age three, sleeping in the bedroom my brother later moved into.  I was staying overnight
at another house last December while dogsitting, and the layout of that room, and the direction
from which light entered it, reminded me of that early memory of my old room.  :orly:

I've always been able to recall laying on my back in the baby stroller, and straining my neck, as I try to lift my head and see where we're going. Unable to express myself.

I also remember laying inside that baby play pen thingy, where I was endlessly fascinated with the shape, color and texture of my baby toys, particularily a bright red plastic apple.

I remember going to look at our family's house being built. I would have been three at the time.

One of my first memories is lying in the back seat of our car, looking out through the back window and reading neon signs. I was about three.

I remember getting mauled by a rooster when I was somewhere between 1.5 and 2.5 I don't remember getting the stitches though just the attack.  I have one possibly younger one of going to the doctor for a check up where that the oldest I could have been was 2.  I have a bunch of my dog when I was just over two that we didn't have much longer after that

Well, at least he wasn't a close relative of mine.

The first very clear memory I have is I remember my parents bringing my youngest brother home from the hospital.  My other brother and I were at my grandmother's house and her mother, my great-grandmother, lived with her after her stroke.  My newborn brother cried and my great-grandmother imitated his cry perfectly.  He immediately stopped crying and stared at her, fascinated.  I was three.

It was a turkey doing that to me. No idea how old I was. And it wasn't that bad, because there was a fence between me and the angry bird. Left me with an eternal dislike and distrust of turkeys though.
Even the smell of them on a plate is abhorrent.

Being at a house with a bunch of kids and toys and I was always withdrawn. It was where my parents always took me to. I even remember lying on the couch getting my diaper changed and there was this other girl talking to the lady who ran the place and then she starts touching my folded skin down there and I hated it because it felt uncomfortable. I wasn't even two yet. It was a daycare my parents brought me to and the lady who ran it, it was in her personal home.
