Smokers?

I smoked once when I was five years old and I have never smoked since then.

I tried when I was five or six because my aunt smoked and she go outside and smoke. I would try several times but her and my parents always stopped me and my cousin would tell on me when she would see me try. I never got to puff the thing at that age.

My grandmother smoked and I didn't like that she did.  I asked her what she saw in it and she gave me her lit cigarette so I could take a puff.  I inhaled deeply and choked on the smoke.

I have a packet of consolate (menthol) in the cupboard, which will probably last me a couple of weeks.

I just knew it would be menthol.

I don't remember my mom getting mad, but I'm not sure whether she did or not.

Is the UK the only place where cigarettes are called fags?  Also, does anywhere else use the expression 'bumming' to describe getting a cigarette off of someone else?

I call them fags, but that because of too much time spent in the UK, and I rapidly discovered that if you ask someone anywhere else in the world if you can ‘bum a fag’ you might get punched….

I still suck fags. The problem with it is that I LIKE sucking fags. I don’t actually WANT to stop sucking fags. No excuses.

It is done here in Australia too but not commonly. People do ask, though, if they can "bum a smoke".

I have tried cigarettes - when I was 14 or so - and I thought they tasted terrible.

I smoked a few cigarettes here and there when I was out drinking in college but it never really appealed to me.  I hate the cigarette smoke smell but oddly enough  love the smell of a freshly opened pack of them.   Chocolate and coffee on the other hand, just have to have them

  I think freshly opened cigarettes smell like raisins. 

Another one here, loving the smell of unburned tobacco.

   Even if I did smoke, I would never do it in the house, the smell of stale smoke is truly foul!

Smoked a couple of times. Never got addicted to it because it isn't something I found pleasure doing.
