That kind of logical flaw, abundant among "normal people" is impossible to battle. I'm gonna have to basically get rude, and I really don't want that...

This is one of the reasons that I question the "normality" in the first place. "Normal" people are usually much more illogical than aspies, even when the logic is astonlingly simple. It's incredibly hard for them to get simple but unpleasant facts into their heads.

My first job was as a mushroom picker. I got the job because I was interviewed with my sister and just followed her lead. I was too slow for mushroom picking though (daydreamed too much), so I pushed for the runner/warehousing position which no girl had ever done before because they said it was "too hard". It wasn't. I did that for a couple of years then thought I would like a change so went for a production position (which involved composting, pasteurisation, spawning and casing) which again, no girl had ever done before. In that job I drove forklifts, the front end loader, operated the main trayline and the boiler. And various other jobs like shovelling compost and hosing the machinery down. I did that for 7 years.

Then I had a sort of mental/psychotic break and shortly after got diagnosed with HFA. I left that job and was offered the Disability Support Pension which I am still on now. I did work at a bakery for a little while but they kept upping my hours so I left.

I decided to try and get into uni through a bridging course. I was successful and I have been studying psychology for the last 4 years. Don't know what I will do with the degree though.

Well, "normal" is a matter of consensus. "Normal" doesn't have to mean better, more sensisble, or anything like that :D
But yes, people have a lot of wishful thinking, myself even a little, but my rational side is overwhelmingly strong compared to my emotional side, so logic always wins. With some people it's on the opposite side of it, like with religion, they choose to "have faith" and believe most whatever benefits them most were it true.
That's why people simply choose to believe in afterlives and such - it simply benefits them, and likelyhoods, odds, rationality, it all goes out the window :D

I have a big nose too!
Crazy, I'm halfway to crazy
Suicide would waste me
Homicide would break me

Oh, is life as bad as dreams
I guess that's just the way it seems

I just texted her. I "owe" them to keep them in the loop. I asked if she'd join me to the social service offices, to help secure the disability payment. She said yes, next week she has the time. What a relief... I often fail to credit her for her patience and understanding. I hope she keeps that attitude untill next week tho :D But gah... if it actually works out... I'm gonna be a happy panda!

I hope it goes well and gets resolved soon.

Yes, me too.

Normal is not the same as logic, only the consequence of majority.

I know, I know. The "normal" majority is a bunch of people who have magical thinking although it is 2012. They lie to themselves and others every day, even about banal things. They think that wishful thinking will change anything. The deny very simple facts, if the facts don't fit in with their opinions of how it "should" be. Yet they havde the stomach to define us as "abnormal", but, after all, they are shameless liers  :thumbdn:

Abnormal, of course, is the consequence of minority and not an ugly word in itself.

I was thrown out from another board a year ago. I actually hadn't broken the rules, but they didn't like my opinions on things, so they lied and said that I had broken the rules.

On this community there was procuration going on. Prostitutes were selling services there. I showed other members, who though that I was rightfully banned, that those running the board were committing crimes. Their answer? "Well, that is like mixing apples and oranges"! As if anyone allowing crimes against Swedish law on their board could be in a moral position of banning anyone who was just breaking the rules of the board - which I wasn't anyway!  :facepalm2:

It is just the way the brain is wired. I have to remind myself that our brains are wired wrong, with the result being a more factual relation to the world. You must remember that all these delusions and bullshitty mentalities are - somehow - vital for pack-maintanance, they are purely social. It probably has to do with the ability to "instantly" fit in. If your pack suddenly decides to believe in Raelianism, then you must too - or you will be expelled, and starve - therefore you must posess the ability to simply un-know everything you once knew, and replace this with new knowledge.
I often tell people - the fact that europeans are often agnostic or atheistic doesn't have much to do with intelligence or rationality, but simply consensus. It just happens to be our culture, recently, to not believe in "God", but this is prone to change, depending on circumstances.
The biological/psychological need for beliefs and deities are often connected with the need for a divine protector - so as long as we're safe and sound, we won't need deities. If life became much harder, and survival became more of a real issue, I wouldn't be surprised if all us modern, rational, etc, europeans would suddenly become religious fanatics again :I
As you can see for yourself - despite being non-religious - people still have that "religious mindset", where they can look right at a fact, and un-see it, they can be told an obvious truth, and un-know it, depending on their own personal interest

I do know I'm not "normal", in that my brain doesn't work in the same way as the majority's. I know that I don't really fit in, in spite of years of honing my coping skills. And I'm almost painfully aware of the unspoken chatter surrounding me at social events, in spite of not understanding most of it.

I know I'm not part of any of it, but I also don't expect the majority to change because of my shortcomings. Why should they try to walk on one leg when they have two?

If I lie about something long enough, even if it's something where a lie could actually be "suitable", I feel physically ill. For them lies are necessary - and for what? For staying a sheep in the heard!

I don't consider liers and hypocrites having two legs, I consider them having no shame and moral.

And I agree, re liars. But you are making a sweeping generalisation, up there--I very much doubt "they" all do it. The truth, most likely, falls somewhere in between the extremes.

I often catch myself generalizing, but it's just more easy to "let it all out" through generalizations :D
