At lease I've been losing some weight lately because of new diet and some exercise.

I have read that for some people their type 2 diabetes goes away once they have lost a certain amount of weight. Blood pressure goes down too. Hope this is the case for you.

I have gained a fair bit of weight recently. I used to be able to eat whatever I liked but now I can't. I don't know whether it is meds related or age related. So I am staying away from lollies, chocolate, biscuits and other sugary foods. And not having second helpings at mealtimes either. Also going for walks whenever I can. Signed up for a 15km charity walk in November. One thing about me is I know I can walk far when I put my mind to it.

Pretty much stay away from anything processed, and bread can be a big no-no, even Subway raises my blood sugar level too much.

It's just a matter of slowly erasing all the old habits and not getting too discouraged when I fall off the wagon.

^Definitely. I was offered Cadbury Snack chocolate (my favourite) but was able to say no to it. Hard though.

•Diabetic blindness is the leading cause of blindness in Australians aged under 60.
•About 30 per cent of people with diabetes will develop kidney disease.
•Diabetes is the sixth highest cause of death by disease in Australia.

I guess so long as you stay away from stuff like this






...and concentrate on eating stuff like this






...you should be fine in the long term, and not one of those harrowing statistics.

Not quite as good for you if you have Diabetes. Salad can be fun. I think they can do wonders with it these days, to make it edible.
