I used to go to Middle Earth Festivals out in the mountians east of Santa Maria. Oh what fun !!!

Vehement in feeling about LOTR, I'm not.  I love the stories, but, I'm just not into the roleplaying and games that these festivals are noted for.

Would have to agree that while I'm a huge fan of Tolkien, the likelihood of me playing RPGs dressed as an Ent is slim to non-existent.

Xactly, I might do a photo of myself in a Gandalf style costume for private amusement.  But, thats it.

Y'le the role-playing may be common at some MEF's, the ones I wen to were mostly known for alcohol and drug consumption. (While dressed in costume of course)

Zanax stays at home, man! Of course, games are noted by some. I would go for the music, though. I have not been to a Middle Earth Fest, but plenty of the period festivals I've been to had accomplished musicians, just sitting around under trees, playing acoustic instruments.
