Just before going to bed yesterday, I found out that the reflux I have isn't stomach acid but the digestive enzyme pepsin. All the symtoms fit: Pepsin detection in patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux before and after fundoplication

Now I just have to convince the doc: "Well, you have been a doctor (he actually has several doctor's degrees) for over 40 years and are one of the absolute experts on this. I have no medical knowledge. My only higher education is in German and theoretical philosophy. Nevertheless I am right and you are wrong." Hm, I really have to use all my diplomatic and verbal skills here.

And above all, the trickiest thing is what to do about it. It's not really sure that an operation will fix it either and, if it does, it isn't sure that it will last for the rest of my life with the methods available now

It's often claimed that Swedish nja is a unique Swedish expression. This is not very true, since it has cognates in English nah and German ne, nö.

It's also claimed that Swedish lagom is a unique expression. It's not quite true either, because English moderate, Latin moderatus and German mäßig mean about the same. Only the construction is a bit different. It's the old dative of lag, which means "law".
