What did your old school reports say?
« on: July 22, 2012, 01:12:18 PM »
...and were the teachers 'right' about you?

Mine were good,  really good until the last couple of years when i went off the rails a little!   My old headmaster, Mr Vaughan put that my folks should not worry too much about my sudden academic demise because he thought i would be married by eighteen  :o   What a tosser! :wanker:

I don't know.  The clay tablets were broken when Atlantis went under.

When I moved to Florida in the sixth grade I had many teachers and a guidance counselor who could not look past the poor penmanship, spelling and grammar and basically wrote me off as stupid, pretty much to the point of telling me outright  .  It did not seem to matter to them I never got less than an A's in science or B's in math

I had to take my primary school reports to my psychiatrist so he could see whether anything in them let him know that I should be diagnosed with ADHD. He ended up copying a fair bit out of them.

My reports from Years 8 and 9 were all about me failing and refusing to do any work. Things improved in Years 10 and 11 though. Different school.

The later reports were terrible, with stuff like "Ashley is lacking attention in class and skips mandatory classes". In meetings they basically told my parents that I'll never get into college etc. with my work ethic.

Hmmm, something tells me something went wrong there. I AM in college.

The most useless one was when the religion teacher basically told my parents that I always skip her classes, and that her classes are essential. Considering it was not an exam for the Leaving Cert and that I'm not religious, frankly her "classes" were more useless than PE.

Our Religious Education classes were unmissable!  The teacher was funny as fuck,  i doubt she ever bothered to do a lesson plan,  it always ended up in a dramatic debate.

Religion was always boring here because so many people believed the shite. Everyone in the area was super catholic so such a move almost made you an outcast. My mother didn't care much about my move because my family are not religious themselves.

Thankfuly in the recent years, there has been a sharp increase in atheists/agnostics in this country.

I remember getting into trouble for not participating in any hymn singing or prayers in morning assembly.  I dunno if they still do that now?

Anyway, there was some kind of event at school,  can't remember exactly,  but it involved parents.  My Dad refused to join in with the hymn's too,  and he wouldn't stand up to sing 'God Save The Queen' - he was the only parent who stayed in his seat with his arms folded.

My folks were were real old school about everything except religion.  They never christened me as a kid, and always believed in my right to choose whether i wanted to participate in such a bizarre activity.

They had regular meetings about me, starting with psych evaluations to admit me to school ahead of time and then focussing on my brilliant social skills. :zoinks:

Later the frequent meetings, reports and phone calls were about me never doing anything I wasn't interested in, in addition to my superior social skills. :zoinks:

Said I had a hard time following the rules and dealing with change. Nearly everything in my report cards said I needed improvement. I don't remember what else it said about me. It was too hard to read because it was all cursive.

Plus I also read my IEP an they mentioned my poor social skills and suspected OCD in me and I had all these labels I was diagnosed with. Plus I read in my 5th grade report by my teacher that I turn my work in late so he has given me more time and that I had finally adjusted in the classroom. They even said about if they were not sure if I was attention seeking or trying to sensory seek or not know I was being inappropriate. They also said about my drawing being inappropriate and it was like a six year old and my cat stories were all about being alone.

I sounded retarded in all my IEP reports and report cards. I assume that is what school reports are.

I was the girl that went unnoticed.  :autism:

Well, apart from my amazing PE qualities, and my astonishing handwriting skills.

Oh, and I  was the girl that was dreamy, looking outside, seeing all the birds fly by.

Then there was this massive testing, at age 17/18, to see what kind of studying would be good for me. All of a sudden, there were all kinds of social problems. Came out of the blue, and I just dismissed it, as did my parents. They are about as gifted as I am, when it comes to that :lol1:

Oh my.

In retrospect, it would have been good, had I realised around 20 that I had ASD problems. Would probably have finished my studies, if I had known, understood, and found ways to cope with what was bothering me.

They wanted to admit me to school ahead of time too, though I didn't want that, becuase all my mates (yes, I actually did have friends back then) were my age.

Then I also was reported for beating the crap out of some bullies and was home-schooled in 3rd grade
