Fine.
It was mainly something Dunc said earlier to me combined with Odeon's post to you in this thread. The conversion happened slowly, but whether the WC has won or lost is yet to be decided.

It has me in it; how much damage do you
think adding you will create?

DD, an update on the JC penney portraits- we ended up getting 13 sheets for $34.55.
not too bad.  last time we got just slightly more for $150.00.
everything was amicable, and i didn't even have to start yelling. ;D
Misunderstood.

:woohoo:

I hope something I told you helped. By all rights you and your wife should have gotten complimentery rimjobs, as well, considering how much crap they put you through. Getting ready twice is no fun. It sounds like they gave you your photos at cost plus a few percent, which is probably the best they can do.
Good for you!

Damage, probably none, but adding another source of confusion with questionable decision making ability won't help much, either.

yeah.

i suppose that the quality of the pictures really helps in the negotiation process.

my oldest daughter was having a meltdown the entire time we were there.  we went in for family pictures and the only ones that turned out great were the pics of Boston.

if we had a great selection of family photos i suspect that the negotiations would have gone very differently.
Misunderstood.

I hope this works out for you the way you want it. Sometimes getting some outside help on your portfolio from a fresh set of eyes can be a benefit, if you know someone you can trust. Things like streamlining it and leaving them wanting more is usually a good idea, but it is often difficult to do for yourself when you have so much invested, personally. Portfolios are such an unfair way to judge an artist. I'm sure you know this.
I figure a portfolio's more fair than a resume, and a heck of a lot more fair than judging me by who I know.

I can't tell if you meant this as offering help or not, but the portfolio's at www.studiopyraxis.com if you feel like checking it out. The purpose is to get a job in game design or film; 3d modeling, texturing or lighting. I'd actually be happy to cut stuff out of it and rearrange things. I suspect that most of the artistic angst is restricted to other aspects of the job search.

Since you are not working, you should post more.

I totally agree about being judged by the people you know. All of us have run into that in many aspects of our lives. I called it "wearing the right hat", earlier in reference to the Nashville music scene. What I really meant by another set of eyes was for someone who knows you and you trust to have a look, but I will definitely enjoy perusing your portfolio, myself. Thanks for the link.
I am also under the impression that you know far more about what makes a good portfolio than I do. I would not be so presumptuous or insolent as to criticize it myself, except in the way an "unwashed friend" might.

I am assuming that this is related to my insensitivity to Starbuline a few nights ago. All I will say is that I was trying to make an underage troll go away. Many of the things I said were unnecessarily cruel and meant to put her off and make her leave. I admit that and I regret it. She stayed, though and I wish now I had done more to make her leave sooner. If you want to climb up and rip me to shreds for being an asshole, that's fine. I deserve it.

I certainly agree with what you stated, concerning "benefit of the doubt" and I would never have doubted her or anyone if I she was revealing this under a different context. I also understand your position to be that the context does not matter. I believe that in this case it does, since she had already told so many lies and was trying to tug at heart strings to stay a while longer by the time she brought it up. I actually supported her at first and if she returns at eighteen to shut us up and embarrass us or whatever, I will support her again, regardless of what she thinks of me.

I can say nothing in my defense. There was a teenage kid trolling the forum, even after having it pointed out to her that she did not belong here and will be banned immediately upon the return of someone with administrative privileges.. The thing that she was not taking into account is that if it is discovered that this site is allowing minors and porn to connect it could be shut down. It is a serious legal matter to keep kids out of here. I wish, I wish, I wish I had done more and at least mentioned the legal ramifications to her. To me losing the contacts I have made on this site would be quite a blow and I would miss this gaggle of goofballls, tremendously. So, I suppose you can put it down to my being selfish and ego-centric.

If you remember, I was alluding to having some knowledge of the issue. Some of it I can't really talk about much, but when I said I understood a little bit, it is from having relationships with three  different women in my life who have been raped (FUCK, why is it always three of everything?) and one of them, I married.

Actually there's one aspect of it you might be able to help with even without knowing what might appeal to animation folks or show off the right set of technical skills. That's telling me what kind of artistic impression it gives. I've been told that people wouldn't hire me because they couldn't get enough sense of my personality from my IRL demeanor (too awkward and stiff because the social stuff doesn't come naturally). So my hope is that I could convey myself through the art instead, enough for people to get that sense of reassurance from seeing something "real". But I've stared at these pieces for so long that I don't have much sense of what message they convey, and whether it has anything to do with either my actual self-concept or what they would find desirable.

Of course, if all that is too emo for you, feel free to give me the finger.  :)

I hope this is not hormone related.

How did I miss your post? I got so used to this thread being over and done long ago, that I never check. Sorry!

I will definitely offer a word or two of first and second impressions. I'm not convinced of how my comments could be of value, but I will look for some semblance of personality and give it a try.
