Katanas/machetes/swords used to be illegal in NSW. Now people can "possess" one but they're not allowed to "carry" it (unless it's in a specific padlocked bag or carry case).

No laws surrounding chainsaws exist apart from the OH & S ones. Eg. people who work for the SES need to get a certificate before they're allowed to use one on the job.
