Never had a problem with it before.  Know several current vegans and no problems with them either.

Aren't you still a fat bastard regardless of eating veggies? :zoinks:

Have no issues with what people eat once they don't tell me what to eat, and vice versa.

You should get it tested.  The liver can store several year's worth of vitamin B12, so deficiency is very slow to develop, and the symptoms are vague and very difficult to spot, but it can result in permanent neurological damage if not treated.

I do it for a week every month or every other month, actually prefer not eating alot of meat in the summer. But anything longer I lack the willpower for, I totally love a good cut of steak or chicken, cheese, etc.

My son actually prefers soy milk to cows milk.  There is nothing in meat that a human needs that one can't get from veggies.  Common misconception.

I don't know any vegan sources of B12 other than brewer's yeast and I don't know how much of that you will be able to get a three year old to eat, so maybe you should give him a multivitamin that contains an appropriate amount of B12 just to be safe.  If he were drinking cow's milk and eating cheese and yogurt, those would have been sources of Vitamin B12.  Another concern is iron.  Although there are vegan sources of iron, many of the long term vegans I know became anemic, so you definitely want to keep an eye on that since it happens so gradually.  I think that most multivitamins for kids don't have iron.  I think there is one kind of chewable Flintstones multivitamin that does contain iron, but I have no idea if it's vegan or not.

Humans are omnivores. We need both meat and veg in our lives to be considered "healthy". Some vegans claim humans aren't omnivores at all, but at one time used to be herbivores. Any time they present "evidence" on this, it usually isn't accurate or it's hearsay over the web by some self-appointed "expert". They also completely forget the canines in our teeth. :orly:

The majority of vegans I've met look like zombies or borderline anorexic. Whether it's caused by their diet or not is unknown to me, but it's weird how it seems to be a common trait. Vegetarians however have the ability to become fat, which also boggles my mind. A friend of mine is a strict vegetarian and she's getting quite chubby as of late. Probably the dairy products in work, along with excess carbs.

The reason why I can't really criticise people's eating habits is because I'm not exactly healthy myself. My diet mostly consists of meat and occasional junk food. That along with no exercise helped me become the fat bastard I am today. :zoinks:

I'm at least as fat as you are.  :M

Also, I have tried soy milk and rice milk and I'm allergic to them both.  (emo)

It's been two weeks, I am probably okay.  New diet will involve a lot of nutritional yeast that is fortified with B12, so won't be a problem.  To clarify, my kids aren't going vegan, just my wife and I.  My son is practically vegan anyway as he hates meat, but loves cheese and we will keep that around as a choice for him.  He can and will eat what he wants when it is around.
