Take the PR to an orthopedist to see if anything can be done to relieve the cramping in her hand.

I hope they can help her.

I've been to a hand therapist a couple of years ago, for a similar thing. The program she offered made a massive difference to me.

Yes, he is fine. This was about his medication.

Take the PR to an orthopedist to see if anything can be done to relieve the cramping in her hand.

Follow-up.  The doc said the pain/cramps may be from the way she is cradling that hand under the other arm.  Said any surgery would be strictly cosmetic because she doesn't have use of her fingers and surgery wouldn't give her use of them.  Therapy and a splint were recommended.

I wonder how a splint would stop her hand from cramping, because she couldn't cradle it under the other arm with a splint on it?

A well formed splint will "force" the hand to relax.

I have slept with a splint for that reason for a while. Was only allowed to use it during the night. It also taught me to keep my hand more relaxed during the day.
First time I had the splint on, it felt like a long longed for warm bath. The pain, that I had been ignoring for a very long time, dropped in seconds with more than 50%. Nearly brought tears to my eyes, that shock of de-cramping.

Was a bit of a nuisance to learn to sleep with it. But, I still have it around somewhere, and, when I notice the cramping up is starting again, I sleep with it for another few nights.

Should get my splint re-adjusted. But, since I now use it so rarely, I can't be bothered.

Because her wrist and hand are folded into an inverted V shape with the fingers almost resting on the inside of the arm.  Cradling in puts more pressure and narrows the gap between the palm and arm more, causing some cramping.  Or so the thinking is.  The splint will keep it the wrist and hand straighter.

I wonder if they will take it slowly with her splint, getting it straighter and straighter over an elongated time. That is what was done with my splint. I was doing it the other way around though, I was overstretching my hand, and putting extra pressure on that, while hiding it under my other arm. The more natural curve, of a relaxed hand, was slowly moulded into the splint. Not making haste with it at all. Because it was about relaxing.

That makes sense.  I hope however they do it, that the splint helps her hand not cramp, QV.
