About four times now I have "started" my patio table top renew project. I've not made much progress yet.
We have one of those outdated cast iron leg and steel scrolled stretcher coffee tables from the '80s that came with a glass top. Heavy!
Scavenged from a clean out pile at one of the houses that were torn down before we moved to our new home, we have been using it as a fire frame on the patio when we fire up one of those Swedish rocket logs.
My plan is to construct a removable cedar table top for it, so we can use it as an outdoor coffee table with the top on or remove the top and light a fire within. Using a burned out old Weber grille bottom as a Hibachi style fireplace.
I've sawn about two thirds of the leg length from the old Weber grille, so it still sits off the ground a bit and the top is level with the table structure.
I'm going to finish building the overdue cedar top for the table. The cedar should gray up and age nicely.
