What would you response be to the suggestion that AFF is/was a place with "militant aspies who were exceedingly anti-neurotypical"?

Not necessarily my opinion (I never went to AFF myself), but I'm curious what your thoughts are on that.

I'm not Gareth, but I'm an admin over there;

We've always had a problem with people coming over and bashing NTs and having the whole superiority thing going on.
I've always done my best to defuse that, and I have in fact banned people for doing it.

As for "militant", that depends on your interpretation of the word. We're pretty militant towards the JRC, for example, though I'm sure you'll not begrudge us that.
Personally, I want to burn that place to the ground and piss on the ashes, preferably with the staff and founders inside.

Judge Rotenburg Centre.

Here, have a read for yourself, see if you agree with our...distaste for the place.

tl;dr version; They shock kids and withhold food for stuff like being a bit scruffy, fidgeting, stopping work for a second...

Basically stuff that'd be illegal to do to normal prisoners, to POW or to animals.

Eeek....

If you actually do click through (and I think you did if you're in Australia, since somebody popped up from there reading it), be warned that you'll probably want to punch a kitten after reading it.

Fuck the JRC.  :finger:

So you don't necessarily agree? :P

I would help hide evidence to such an act :)
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

How to apologise to Scrap

Originally, to get autism rights activism to go offline by encouraging offline local groups - that didn't have anywhere near the success I hoped for.
Thanks. Autism rights in a certain country?

Sorry it did not work out for you. People with Asperger's just enjoy using these forums to argue about the most asinine things, as I am sure you are aware of.
I don't have a life so I like to come here and try my best trolling you all. I'm not that clever so I'm now banned. Again. Odeon wrote this after pwning my sorry arse. I'm now back at Spasticity, trying to make it look like my mission here was a success.

I cry a lot.

I'm not sure what you mean by "in a certain country", but the general goal of AFF was to encourage people to setup local groups in their own geographical location (which would mean multiple countries of course) and to use these groups for a blend of both autism rights activism and aspie-friendly socialising without the regular "support group" mentality.
So far as the activism side of things, ASAN has done well there and i'm extremely pleased to see someone doing the important work even if I can't take credit for it myself.

I am unaware of any significant offline groups for "aspie-friendly socialisation" outside of common interest groups that happen to have a lot of aspies attending (sci-fi fandom groups such as trekkies come to mind here as a very aspie-ish thing).

I'm sorry you haven't found any tolerant or like-minded groups to socialise with.
