What is your beef with Caitlin Doughty and the death positive movement?
I should update my username here, but anyway:
That whole movement is full of deathists, Caitlin herself is extremely nasty and is on record as saying that life extension and Transhumanism is only for men, and women should basically make babies and then die - she dares to call that a feminist view.
She also helped to encourage a harassment campaign against me personally when I criticised their little cult when I was actively mourning my grandmother's death.
That whole movement is so full of deathists that if someone calls themselves "death positive", they basically have to prove to me that they're not a deathist.
My suggestion to all deathists of course is this: you go first, but don't you dare try to sabotage medical research aimed at saving lives, don't try to sabotage my cryo arrangements (as some threatened to - and it's a realistic threat as many work in the funeral industry and may have connections).
Basically, if someone wants me and everyone I love and care about to die, then naturally I'll have a "beef" with them.
The death positive people who aren't deathists are still helping to give the deathists in their movement/cult a respectable appearing face - and I've yet to see any of them call out the ideological leaders of their movement for promoting deathist views or attacking Transhumanists and anti-aging research.
I've seen some argue against a hypothetical cure for heart disease and cancer, because curing these conditions would make people "live too long".
Again, if you are part of that movement and don't call them out, you are part of the problem.
As a Transhumanist, I support uplifting the whole human race, allowing us all to live longer, happier and healthier lives. The death positive cult oppose this goal.
Caitlin Doughty gave a keynote speech about "countering transhumanism" and has advocated for banning research aimed at rejuvenation and slowing or reversing the aging process.
The publicly stated goals of the movement are okay, but that's not what they actually do.
